Remove all previous beliefs you have about fat loss. Forget about your genetics. Forget about those other books you’ve been reading.

If you’re really short and fat, you can get lean. This is the truth. It might take some time, but commit to this new lifestyle. You can do this.

Start With Realistic Goals

It’s one thing to look at a picture of a lean, healthy physique. You see these pictures all over social media and you begin to fantasize about having that body.

But, this is the wrong way to go about it. Blasting your mind with images of something that you don’t currently have won’t help you.

You might feel a spark of motivation from doing so, but it’s not going to last. You’re fat, right? So, let’s focus on where you’re at today and start there.

It’s obvious what your long-term goal is. Of course you want to be lean and skinny. Who doesn’t? Everybody wants to look amazing. There’s nothing special about that.

Want to know what’s special?

Making actual progress is special. It’s rare. It’s raw results.

While everybody else is focused on these Instagram models who take steroids but pretend they don’t, you’re actually making progress by losing weight each week.

So, that needs to be your goal going forward. You might be short and fat today, but next week you’ll be a little less fat. Still short, but that’s genetics 😉

Don’t feel bad about being short. I’m short too! I don’t let what god gave me slow me down. It is what it is. Accept who you are! Reach your full potential.

Set realistic goals. Goals that you can hit each and every day. This starts with the foods and liquids you put into your mouth.

If you get the nutrition right, you will lose weight. Add on an exercise program and you’ll accelerate the progress. Cool!

When you focus too much on the future “you,” you end up ignoring what’s most important: the time you have right now.

That is really all that matters. Focus on the things that you can do right now that will help your body become a fat burning machine.

If you get this part right, you will be ahead of everybody else. This is where most people fail. They end up the same weight 3 months later because of it.

This is also why I’m not a big “dreamer.” It’s great to have a picture in your mind of what you want, but you have to go big today to start the process.

And, you have to remain consistent to the journey. That’s what produces the results that you want. Grind every single day until you get to where you want to be.

Once you’re where you want to be, you’ll realize that there’s more for you to do. So you keep going. It becomes a lifestyle.

Hit the Gym and Lift Weights

I want you to start weight lifting. I know it can seem scary at first, but I promise you’ll learn to enjoy it.

The hardest part of a gym routine is standing up and getting into your car. Once you sit down in your car, you’ve already won half the battle.

Now put that key in the ignition and drive to the gym. There’s no turning back now. Get in there and start lifting some weights.

Since leg workouts burn the most calories, you’ll want to focus the majority of your exercises on the legs. Yes, your legs will hurt in the morning but it will be worth it.

I want you to check out my fat burning leg workout I wrote once you’re done reading this article. But, some quick tips:

You can get a great workout using just those simple dumbbells you see on the rack. You can do dumbbell lunges, one-legged romanian deadlifts, bulgarian split squats, calf raises and more!

All of these exercises can give you amazing legs. They also burn a ton of calories because they’re tough the heavier the weight.

However, if you haven’t workout in a long time, then you might not even need dumbbells. You can do bodyweight exercises.

For example, the bodyweight bulgarian split squat is an effective exercise. Even though I have strong legs, I still work up a sweat doing 12 of these with no weight!

Here’s what the exercise looks like:

They are great for burning fat as they use your upper and lower leg muscles. Thsse are the largest muscles in the body. You’ll burn a lot of calories doing these.

Work your way up to 3 sets of 10 reps for these split squats. It may take you several workouts to get to this point. But, the bulgarian split squat is a great exercise that will rock your world.

Once you are able to do this exercise with just your bodyweight, then you’re ready to start adding the dumbbells.

All you do is either hold one dumbbell with both hands, or hold a dumbbell of the same weight in each hand.

Avoid the machines when possible. The only machine I use for leg workouts are the leg extensions and leg curls. I do these at the end of a workout as a finisher.

As for other exercises you can do, think Power. What exercises will help you build power? Sprinting, jump roping, boxing, pushing a sled, etc.

Do exercises that build your power. Avoid slow, steady exercises. You’ll thank me later for this as you get stronger each and every week.

Yes, even if you’re short and fat you can still get strong. That’s a big part of the process!

Get Your Diet In Check

If there’s one problem that prevents short women from getting skinny, it’s the fact that they aren’t able to stick with their diet.

I often hear that diet is 80% of the game and workout is 20%. I don’t like this mindset because it makes the gym seem less important.

Instead, it’s best to think that both your diet and the gym is 100% of the game. You need to focus on both if you wish to not be fat.

There are thousands and thousands of books out there on diet and exercise. However, all you need to understand is the how to lose weight.

Once you understand this process, losing weight becomes easier no matter which diet you follow.

The worst thing you can do is to totally commit to a diet you’ve read without understanding how it works. This is what a lot of books do these days.

The Lean Warrior diet is incredibly flexible and works life this:

  • high protein to kickstart your metabolism.
  • enough carbs and fats to help you lose weight.
  • what foods you should NOT eat.
  • your own choice of protein sources. You can be a vegetarian and that would be fine.
  • the right amount of calories so you stay energized while burning fat.
  • a whole food diet that becomes a part of your lifestyle.

Notice how there’s nothing really specific in the Lean Warrior diet. This is because you create your own diet.

Once you know the science behind losing weight, you will have the necessary knowledge to develop a diet that works for your body.

It’s important to be realistic: this is a lifestyle change. Don’t expect to lose 20 pounds in a month. It entirely depends on how fat you are.

If you’re really fat, you will lose weight quickly in the beginning. However, the leaner you get the slower it gets.

Losing 1.5 pounds per week is the most I recommend for men and women who are in the “healthy” range. You’re no longer overweight or obese.

Any more than this and you’ll temporarily lose the muscle you worked so hard to build. But, that probably doesn’t apply to your situation since you’re short and fat 🙂

Eliminate Stress From Your Life

We all have our own daily stresses. I don’t know what yours are. Only you do. This is always easier said than done.

But, what you can is to prepare yourself to win. If you prepare to win, then you won’t be on the path to losing.

Spend some time thinking about how you can prepare each day to be less stressful. What are some tasks you can do that will make your life more efficient?

This isn’t about making like “easier” because an easy life means a comfortable life. Screw that noise. Being comfortable leads to laziness. It’s good to not be comfortable.

Instead of seeking comfort, seek changes that knock you out of your typical routine. Think about things you can do to be more efficient.

Doing so will remove stresses in your life even if you’re working harder. You may already be a very productive person, but I guarantee that you can be more efficient.

It’s also important to remove toxic people out of your life (or at least greatly limit your contact with them).

Doing so will help you focus on on the tasks at hand without added drama. Dedicate yourself to living a drama-free life. Tell your spouse to shove it if he’s giving you shit.

Critics are a part of life. You have to discipline yourself to ignore them. Don’t let the words and actions of others tear you down.

Removing stresses from your life will help you on this fat loss journey. You might be skinny and fat now, but in a few months you’ll be looking amazing.
